When hundreds of floral trades people from over a dozen states came to the Northeast Floral Expo this year, they witnessed New England’s top award-winning floral talent at the Sheraton Springfield Monarch Place.
Brenda Christie is the 2016 Northeast Floral Designer of the Year. Christie is a designer with McArdle’s Florist and Garden Center and took first place in the competition this weekend, receiving $1,000. Catherine Epright of Green Dahlia in Middletown took second place in the competition and Jason Parent of Dodge The Florist in Portland, ME placed third in the competition. Each designer composed a floral design to meet the theme of the first round of the competition and then participated in a live main stage face-off to determine the top three placings.
The Northeast Floral Expo and Northeast Floral Designer of the Year are produced and sponsored by the Connecticut Florists Association.
