

The Greenwich High School boys lacrosse team built a 7-3 lead after the first quarter and held on for the 12-10 victory over Wilton High School Friday afternoon at Cardinal Stadium.

At one point, GHS held the 10-3 advantage, but several key penalties to start the second half helped Wilton battle back. However Greenwich’s defense was able to hold the lead in the end.
Leading the way for Big Red was Michael Sands, who finished with four goals and two assists. Not to be outdone was teammate Matt Baugher, who added four goals of his own.
Will Perry took home two goals and two assists, while Jack O’Connor grabbed one goal and one assists and Bailey Savio pitched in with a goal. Scooter Harrington paced the Cardinals with three assists.
In addition to his goal, Savio won 12 of the team’s 21 faceoffs. In net, Bennett Cooper took home eight saves for the win.
For the Warriors, Harrison Koch helped out with three goals and two assists, while Kieran McGovern also scored the hat trick. Brian Calabrese took home two goals, while the duo of Harrison Bardwell and John Maudsley finished with one goal each.
