Greenwich High Girls Tennis Blitzes Ridgefield 5-2

The Greenwich High School girls tennis team had a standout afternoon against Ridgefield High School, coming away with the 5-2 victory earlier today.

Big Red swept the singles competition, winning all four matches on the day.

At No. 1 singles, Greenwich’s Maddie Arnold came away with the 6-2, 6-3 victory over Lea Letourneau. No. 2 singles had Maggie Glynn end up victorious in a hard-fought win over Hillary Sharpa 7-6 (7-2), 2-6, 6-3. 

Not to be outdone was Martine Fierro at No. 3 singles, as she took care of Anabel Cordano 6-2, 6-3. At N0. 4 singles was Camilla Akerman, who beat Morgan Held 6-2,6-1.

Big Red’s lone victory in doubles was with Caitlyn Kissel and Carmen Sauz, as they beat Haley Stober and Christina Gianesello 6-2, 7-5.

Ridgefield came away with two victories in doubles. Bella Rendon and Chelsea Hopper beat Greenwich’s Sakura Yurugi and Melanie Murphy 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (8-6). In addition, Ridgefield’s Anna Healy and Welsey Gund came away with the victory against Hannah Crasto and Sara Stober lost 6-1, 6-0.
