Historical Society Looking for Storytellers

The Greenwich Historical Society is seeking storytellers for its upcoming Story Barn on Friday, April 1. Story Barn is a biannual favorite, an entertaining twist on oral history, where a given theme is explored through personal stories. This time around, the topic will be “Any Port in a Storm,” selected to connect with the Historical Society’s newest exhibition “Close to the Wind: Our Maritime History.” Storytellers are welcome to creatively interpret the given theme with only two caveats: stories must be true, and they must be told within a five- to ten-minute time frame. No experience is needed; an interesting yarn and a positive attitude are the only requirements. A practice session with emcee Bonnie Levison is offered prior to the program.

“Any Port in a Storm” will take place in an informal, cabaret-like setting, and wine, beer and light snacks will be served. If you would like to share a story, contact Anna Greco at: agreco@greenwichhistory.org or call 203-869-6899, ext. 31.

The Greenwich Historical Society is located at 39 Strickland Road, Cos Cob. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., performance begins at 8. Tickets are $15 for members, $20 for nonmembers and include entry to “Close to the Wind: Our Maritime History” from 7 until the performance begins.

To attend the show, visit greenwichhistory.org or call 203-869-6899, ext. 10.
