Leading 1-0 after two periods, the Brunswick School ice hockey team added a pair of third period markers to pull away from Taft for a 3-0 victory on Wednesday at the Hartong Rink.

The No. 10 ranked Bruins, winners of six straight contests, improve to 10-2-1 overall. Brunswick returns to their home ice on Saturday to face undefeated Delbarton (N.J.), as the Green Wave enter the showdown with an impressive 9-0-1 record.

Senior captain Jack Stephenson gave Brunswick a 1-0 lead in the opening period, redirecting a Max Fuld wrister from the high slot at 10:46.

After a scoreless second where Taft (4-5-1) had a couple power-play chances, the Bruins tacked on two insurance goals in the third period, including an empty-netter by senior Eric Ganshaw with 38 seconds left in the contest that capped the scoring at 3-0.

Earlier in the third, Colin Slyne made it a 2-0 contest, netting his sixth goal of the season. The senior quickly scored following a faceoff win by junior Matt Holmes at Taft’s left circle.

Senior Brian Ketchabaw collected his third shutout and seventh win this season in net for Brunswick, stopping 33 shots on the day.
