Come to “Christmas on Round Hill” at the Round Hill Community House where the magic begins! The tradition of Christmas on Round Hill goes back to when the Community House was built in the 1920’s. On Friday, Dec. 11 from 6 to 9 p.m., there will be a gala Preview Party. The Fair takes place on Saturday, Dec. 12, and is open free to the community from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The proceeds from the fair support the church’s Outreach Ministry and the care of the Community House.
At the fair, Santa Claus will be sitting in his sleigh, as he has done at every fair for the past 45 years; and the Round Hill Express Train will continue to chug around the grounds carrying young passengers. The train was built in the 1950’s by John McAulay, the Church Sexton.
The Fair is an event for the whole community and great fun for families. There are special activities for children including crafts. And while the children have fun, adults can shop for gifts. At the heart of the Fair is “The Treasure Trove,” a collection of treasures and collectibles from the attics and closets of many kind donors.
At “Something Special” you can select from works made by women of the Round Hill Craft Studio. At “Living Greens” find poinsettias and plants for the home. The Boy Scouts will be selling wreaths and swags of greens. And, there will be soup, sandwiches, and drinks available throughout the day.
The Round Hill Community House is located at 397 Round Hill Road. To purchase tickets for the Preview Party, and view samples from Treasure Trove, Something Special and the vendors, visit roundhillcommunitychurch.org. For more information, call 203-869-1091.
