The Shore Road Bridge Rehabilitation project is officially complete.

Monday afternoon First Selectman Peter Tesei was joined by DPW Commissioner Amy Siebert and Deputy Commissioner James Michel to cut the ribbon.

Shore Road is classified by ConnDOT as a local road and the bridge carries Shore Road over Horseneck Brook.

The bridge replacement was designed and inspected by WMC Consulting Engineers, Inc. of Newington, CT.  The bridge replacement was constructed by A. Vitti Excavators, LLC of Stamford, CT with a total construction contract amount of $883,846.00.

“The Town of Greenwich through the Department of Public Works, has embarked upon a major infrastructure renewal program that includes our bridges. This particular bridge is historic and DPW worked to not only keep its historically integrity but also improve its capacity and life expectancy,” said First Selectman Peter Tesei.

The existing bridge is a stone masonry arch constructed in 1905.  The Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism states that the bridge is listed on ConnDOT’s historic bridge inventory and is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. The bridge spans 30 feet, with an out-to-out width of 36 feet. The existing bridge had a curb-to-curb width of 24 feet with a 3’ sidewalk and 4’ sidewalk along the bridge.
