The Children of the American Revolution, the Mary Bush Society, celebrated Constitution Week with a meeting with Greenwich First Selectman Peter Tesei. On Sept. 17, 1787, the delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time to sign the document they had created which stands as a testament to the tenacity of Americans throughout history to maintain their liberties, freedoms and inalienable rights. The annual observance of Constitution Week was established by a resolution adopted by Congress and signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1956. The objective of this week is to inform people that the Constitution is the basis for America’s heritage and the foundation for our way of life. First Selectman Tesei issued a proclamation identifying Sept. 17 as Constitution Day for the Town of Greenwich.
