As you can see from our front page, the political season is upon us. Last weekend the Democrat Town Committee and the Republican Town Committee each held their official kick-off to the campaign season.
We are excited! If there is something you want to say, we want to hear it. We love receiving letters-to-the-editor.
We suspect we will receive many between now and Election Day. We may not be able to print all of them in the paper that you receive in your mailbox, but we will post all that are appropriate on our website.
So, let’s hear what Greenwich has to say! Send your letters to: Editor@GreenwichSentinel.com.
We have moved.
When we began operations in April, our offices were on River Road in Cos Cob. We have moved. Our new offices are at 28 Bruce Park Avenue and we moved in just last week.
Now we are nearly at the bottom of the Avenue and we see a lot of people walking by our door. In fact we see a lot of vibrancy around the Avenue and beyond.
We have been getting to know our neighbors and they are interesting. From Willow next door to the ever favorite Greenwich Prime Meats and Bon Ton Fish Market, there is a lot happening around this part of downtown.
We are happening too! Now that we are downtown, feel free to stop in.
You can always get a copy of the paper. You can also visit with our staff. We are a community paper so we want to be open and accessible to the community. If you have something you would like to share with us, please do.
September 11th Memorial
On this page we have three letters about the new September 11th Memorial in the Cos Cob Park that was dedicated last week.
We also have a story elsewhere in this paper. Needless to say, we are very proud of our community for coming together and supporting this memorial.
The group behind the memorial did a remarkable job of overcoming opposition, raising the funds and actually building something beautiful and meaningful.
It is stunning. What is just as remarkable was being on hand last Friday when it was dedicated. Over 750 people from throughout our community gathered in celebration of the memorial, in honor of the victims, to dedicate the memorial. It was a poignant and at times solemn ceremony befitting the day and the memorial. T
It has become the habit of everyone here to stop by occasionally and talk with visitors to the memorial.
A few days ago there was a young man there visitng from California. He had a lot of questions.
Why were there markers in the ground? How did this get built? Is this the kind of thing people in Greenwich do. And then, “I saw the most beautiful picutre in the newspaper and had to come see the memorial for myself. The sun was setting behind it.”
“In the Greenwich Sentinel?”
“Yes,” he said. “That was the paper.”
“Thank you.”
