
It was a glorious Saturday for the Brunswick School water polo team, as they opened their defense of the New England Prep School Water Polo title by blasting Deerfield Academy 9-2 in a rematch of the 2014 championship game.
Brunswick held Deerfield Academy to four total shots. Simon Derby led the scoring for the Bruins with four goals and one assist, while tri-captain Pat Stefanou had two goals and two assists. Will Marvin also had two goals and tri-captain Jack Muccia had one goal. Charlie Pang had two saves.
In its other game on Saturday, Brunswick also defeated Williston Northampton School 18-10. Nine different players scored in that game.
Will Prout led all scorers with four goals, while Derby added three goals and one assist. Marvin chipped in with two goals and an assists, while Nico Apostolides, Christian Farricker, Thacher Scannell and Keegan Drew each finished with one goal
Yet again Pang was solid and finished with seven saves in the net
On Wednesday, Brunswick travels to Lakeville and will take on league rival Hotchkiss. A day later, cross-town rivals Greenwich High School will visit the Brunswick pool and next Saturday the Bruins will return to Deerfield to play league rivals Andover and Exeter.
