Opening of Funeral Home’s Newest Location

Marking the opening of Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home’s newest location, at 134 Hamilton Avenue in Greenwich, a ribbon cutting ceremony and an open house is set to be held Saturday, Sept.19 featuring Carolyn Castiglione-Hird, the daughter of the original owner, Don J. Castiglione.

When Carolyn’s father died in 2011, the business was sold but the property wasn’t. Graziano purchased the building then from Castiglione-Hird, but was unable to make any physical updates to the property until this May.

“We’ve done a major renovation—top to bottom,” said Vincent Graziano, manager of the company. “Carolyn will be the one cutting the ribbon before our open house.”

A third generation funeral director, Graziano manages the company while his son, Vincent, and daughter, Jennifer, are owners of the two funeral homes. The Graziano family has been involved in funeral services for over a century and they own another funeral home in Mamaroneck, N.Y.

“We spent the last four months totally renovating the property,” Graziano said. “We’re very proud of it.”

The manager says the property hadn’t been touched for 20 years, and now it looks like a different place to him.

“We brightened up the funeral home and we cleaned it up,” Graziano said. “There was old paneling on the walls and it’s a brighter place now. The lobby has been totally renovated and opened up. There used to be no handicapped-accessible bathroom on the first floor, but now there is, and that was a major accomplishment. We were the first ones to lift a finger here in 20 years and we’re very proud of that.

“I’m even talking about the front garden, the manicured lawns and the flowers along the entrance. Everything is just brand spanking new.”
