The Greenwich Police Department has identified the man who who passed away yesterday after a car accident at the Cos Cob Marina. 80 year old Patrick Conroy was driving a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country on the boat launch when he went over the edge and into the water below.
“We had an elderly man drive off of the boat ramp into the water, and horrifically and tragically has died. That accident was witnessed by his family members who were there as well,” said Lt. Kraig Gray.
Police say Conroy is from Wall, New Jersey and the family was having a day out on the water before tragedy struck.
“They were able to recover a body from the car. He was found in cardiac arrest and was given CPR by GEMS. There were no other victims found in the car,” said Deputy Chielf Thomas Zack.
Police say the vehicle was recovered at a depth of about 12 feet. If anyone was a witness to this, please contact the police at (203) 622-8014.
