Talk: Connecticut’s Coastal Resilience

March 6, 2016 @ 1:30 pm

Free

On Sunday, March 6, Dr. Jennifer Mattei of Sacred Heart University will discuss Connecticut’s coastal resilience, examining strategies to deal with sea level rise and storm surge in coastal communities.

Held at 2 p.m. at the Innis Arden Cottage in Greenwich Point Park, Old Greenwich, the talk will explore the work of Mattei’s team, who installed living shorelines to provide erosion control while restoring or enhancing natural shoreline habitats as alternative to hard infrastructure projects in adapting to climate change.

The lecture is part of the Fred Elser First Sunday Science at the Seaside Center events sponsored by the Bruce Museum and Greenwich Shellfish Commission. The afternoon even also includes family activities and marine tank viewing from 1:30 to 4 p.m. The program is free and no registration is required. For more information, call 203-413-6756.
