Trinity Church’s “Blessing of the Animals
October 10, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Pet owners from Fairfield, Bridgeport, Westport, Southport and the surrounding area are invited to bring their furry, feathery, and scaly friends for a special blessing on the lawn of Trinity Episcopal Church in Southport on Sunday, October 10th at 4:00 pm.
This special event, which is free and open to ALL members of the community regardless of their religious affiliation, is a celebration of the Feast Day of Saint Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals. All of God’s creatures are welcome. Pet owners will have the opportunity to show their appreciation for their pets, make new friends, and share the company of other animals and their owners. Trinity clergy willbestow individual blessings on every animal in attendance: be they horses, pigs, chickens, goats, dogs, cats, goldfish, hamsters, parrots, or others.
COVID CONSIDERATIONS: To ensure adequate social distancing, all attendees must wear masks and pets must be restrained on a leash or in a carrier. People should bring their own chairs. Trinity also asks that all attendees register online here so the Church can track attendees and ensure that attendance is within the recommended guidelines.
The service provides pet owners a chance to gather with their fellow animal companions and discover God’s love made known through all God’s creatures.
A special collection will be taken to benefit the Fairfield Animal Shelter, which also has a need for used towels and blankets.
