"The Strength of All Thy Past": Greenwich Academy, a Retrospective – Opening Reception

February 18, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

This exhibition traces a thematic timeline of Greenwich Academy’s 189-year history, exploring GA’s early identity as a coeducational institution, its reinvention as a girls’ day school, and its evolution in the arts, academics, and athletics. Highlights include historical footage of a 1930s field hockey game, recorded interviews with GA alumnae, uniforms through the ages, and the diaries of headmistress Ruth West Campbell as she toured Europe each summer. Through a multi-media, interactive display, the development of GA is considered within a broader historical context.

Opening reception: Thursday, Feb. 18, 5 to 7 p.m.

Exhibition dates: Thursday, Feb. 18 to Tuesday, May 3

Luchsinger Gallery and Jacobs Lobby at Greenwich Academy, 200 North Maple Avenue.

Gallery hours: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
