The Conservation Commission and Friends of Greenwich Point present: Purple Martins
July 6 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Free
Rebecca Poirier, Environmental Analyst in the Town’s Conservation Department, will teach us about Purple Martins. Purple Martins live in colonies and depend on housing provided by humans. The gourds will be lowered and opened so we can see the nest with eggs and maybe hatched nestlings. The Conservation Commission regularly counts the occupied gourds, the eggs, and nestlings. Some Purple Martins are banded with specific colors to monitor their activities.
The event is being held at Greenwich Point. The closest parking is the Clam Bake Parking. Walk up the gravel road, past the Clam Bake Area, to the Marsh Path.
