March 14, 2017 @ 7:30 am - 9:00 pm

Free

On Tuesday March 14th at 7:30pm, the  Stamford Mineralogical Society will hold their Monthly Meeting and Lecture at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center in Old Greenwich (Lower lounge).
The lecture subject this month will be: “Mineral Collecting in Australia”presented by mineral dealer Ted Johnson, one of our regular dealers at our annual show.
Australia is a paradise for mineral collectors. Hundreds of mines dot the countryside.  The talk will cover visits to a number of localities.  Among these are the famous lead-zinc deposits of Broken Hill, the gold mines of Victoria, and the Red Lead Mine at Dundas, Tasmania. The last one is the major locality for the rare lead mineral crocoite.
SMS meetings are open to the public.  Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.
The Stamford Mineralogical Society meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month, 7:30pm at the EGCC.  Our scheduled future 2017 meeting dates are: April 18, May 9, June 13, July 11, Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Nov.14, Dec.16.
