“Resilience” Documentary and Discussion
March 9, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
FreeJoin us for this timely documentary and discussion with Dr. Alice Forrester, Executive Director at Clifford Beers Clinic in New Haven, CT
This one-hour documentary delves into the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the birth of a new movement to treat and prevent Toxic Stress. One of the leading causes of everything from heart disease and cancer to substance abuse and depression, extremely stressful experiences in childhood can alter brain development and have lifelong effects on health and behavior. Experts and practitioners profiled in RESILIENCE are proving what’s predictable is preventable. These physicians, educators, social workers and communities are using cutting edge science to help the next generation break the cycles of adversity and disease.
Dr. Forrester is widely viewed as a thought leader in her field. She has served on multiple local, state and national councils including the National Child Traumatic Stress Network Steering Committee, the State of Connecticut Behavioral Health Partnership Oversight Council, the Sandy Hook (CT) Commission, and the City of New Haven Substance Abuse Council. Dr. Forrester was appointed by Gov. Dannel Malloy to the Sandy Hook Commission following the 12/14/12 mass shooting tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
