Quasi-Free Blacks: The Merritt Family of Connecticut

The Friends of the Cos Cob Library are pleased to welcome Dennis Richmond, Jr., the Director and Founder of the New York/New Jersey Historically Black Colleges and Universities Initiative.
Dennis Richmond, Jr., a 26-year-old historian, will be diving into the story of his ancestors. He’ll be highlighting his great, great grandfather, Mr. John Sherman Merritt (1889-1921). Mr. Richmond has been featured in the New York Times and featured on BET.
The Friends of the Cos Cob Library have sponsored the “Next in a Series Genealogy Programs” for eighteen years.
