you-make-history-1

In partnership with the League of Women Voters and the YWCA of Greenwich, the Greenwich Historical Society welcomes all to participate in our 2025 Douglass Day transcribe-a-thon hosted in the Permanent Museum Gallery on February 14 from 12-3pm.

People across the nation take part in making history accessible through transcribing of archival documents shared from the Library of Congress. All transcriptions will be made available as resources for learning about African American history. Throughout the day, the event will feature speakers, who will delve into various topics and readings on African American history, as well as a Great Douglass Day Bake Off Competition to make the perfect history-themed birthday cake to celebrate Douglass and the significance of his role in history. All speakers and baking highlights will be broadcast live from the Douglass Day website. Bring your computers and tablets to access the archival materials. Staff will be on hand to join in this interactive event.
