Lecture: The Evolution of Beauty

Dr. Richard Prum will explore “The Evolution of Beauty” on Tuesday, February 16, at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich.  Focusing on connections between art and science, the talk is part of the annual Marjorie Sims Lawrence Memorial Lecture Series.
An evolutionary ornithologist, Dr. Prum leads a new initiative at Yale University that aims to foster communication, mutual understanding, collaborative research and teaching among diverse scientific and humanistic disciplines. He has studied many facets of bird biology including sexual selection and mate choice, aesthetic evolution, avian color vision, and structural color in feathers and skin.  Dr. Prum is Director, Franke Program in Science and the Humanities; William Robertson Coe Professor of Ornithology, Yale University; and Head Curator of Vertebrate Zoology, Peabody Museum of Natural History.
