League of Women Voters Panel: Fake News

May 16, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The League of Women Voters of Greenwich together with Greenwich Library invites you to a panel discussion: Fake News, Alternative Facts and the Future of Mainstream Media. What is fake news? How is it affecting our democracy and what should we do about it? These are some of the questions that will be discussed. Since the issue of fake news has been in the headlines almost daily since the 2016 election period, it is important to discuss whether and how fake news has impacted Americans’ trust in government and public institutions, including the mainstream media. This discussion will consider how mainstream media can respond and what it takes to regain citizens’ confidence.

Program: 7:00 – 9:00 pm
