Jazz Concert
February 26, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
The popular Sunday Afternoons Live concert series continues on February 26 with a concert by jazz saxophonists Peter and Will Anderson in the First Church Auditorium.
The Anderson brothers are widely recognized for their unique renditions of classic songs. After attending the Julliard School of Music in New York City, they formed an ensemble that has headlined at The Blue Note, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, and the New Orleans Jazz Festival. Most recently, they performed live on a 2016 episode of Garrison Keillor’s nationally broadcast “Prairie Home Companion.”
The New York Times described the Anderson brothers as “virtuosos on clarinet and saxophone,” and The Washington Post has praised their music as “imaginatively unfolding in ways that consistently bring a fresh perspective to classic jazz tunes.”
“Peter and Will are nationally recognized recording artists, among the most creative in their field,” said Craig Symons, Director of Music at First Church. “They have been featured four times in New York City’s celebrated ‘Highlights in Jazz’ series, and it is a great honor for us to be able to welcome them to Old Greenwich.”
Tickets are $20 and are available at the door. As with all First Music & Arts programs, school-age youth are free!
