It Takes a School: The Extraordinary Story of an American School in the World's #1 Failed State
April 25, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Greenwich, CT – In 2008, hedge fund manager Jonathan Starr left the successful investment firm he founded in Boston to establish and become Headmaster of the Abaarso School of Science and Technology in Somaliland, the world’s #1 failed state. Abaarso has since placed over 80 students in internationally respected universities, including Harvard and Yale, and its mission and students have commanded the attention of international players, including Nicholas Kristof and Anderson Cooper.
The Nantucket Project and Greenwich-based Global Citizens Initiative are pleased to welcome Jonathan Starr, author of It Takes A School, and Abdirahim Mohamed (Brown ’20), Abaarso alumnus and GCI Ambassador, on April 25 at 7 pm at 123 Main Street in Greenwich for a lively discussion about personal and cultural transformation and the lessons they’ve learned that could be applied around the world going forward.
$10 admission, RSVP required. Register at: https://nantucketproject.regfox.com/it-takes-a-school
