Greenwich Historical Society to Host Conversation with Curator

July 22, 2015 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

The Greenwich Historical Society will host a free, behind-the-scenes wine and cheese reception and special tour of the exhibition Greenwich Voices. Curator Karen Frederick will talk about how the audio installation was conceived and how the voices of scores of town residents from all walks of life were recorded to weave a unique, oral portrait of Greenwich in its 375th year. She will also focus on the show’s importance as a time capsule to be revisited on the occasion of the town’s 400th birthday. Guests will have an opportunity to hear interviews, to view vintage film and photos from the Historical Society archives and to share their responses to the show during casual group gallery conversations.
Greenwich Voices, supported by a generous gift from Russ and Debbie Reynolds, is a true multimedia departure for the Historical Society. The project pushes new boundaries in chronicling local history, illustrating how glimpses into daily life, past and present, can provide context and shape the way future generations interpret the Greenwich story.
