"Greenwich Choices" Exhibition – Coffee with the Curator

February 18, 2016 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Free

Throughout it 375 years, Greenwich’s history has been marked by some truly unexpected events as it evolved from a quiet, rural hamlet to a bustling community closely associated with affluence and power. How did we get here? Find out during a special program hosted by Karen Frederick, curator of “Greenwich Choices: 50 Objects That Illustrate Our History” at the Greenwich Historical Society, on Thursday, Feb. 18, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Using seldom-seen objects from the Historical Society’s collection as waypoints, Frederick will explore how disparate items such as a hand-sewn shirt with a bullet hole, a bill of sale for a three-year-old slave boy and a state-of-the art vacuum cleaner all contributed to the Greenwich narrative. Also accompanying these objects are labels created by local high school students, which add yet another dimension to the interpretation of our story.

During the guided tour, guests will have an opportunity to ask questions and share personal responses to the myriad objects that reflect choices made by past residents as our town grew and changed. Don’t miss this opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the place you call home. Admission is free but reservations are encouraged.

To RSVP, call 203-869-6899, ext. 10.
