There’s no longer-lived or better-known program associated with Greenwich Library than the Friends Friday Film Series, now 69 years old. The screening of the day is Waste Land (2010, directed by Joao Jardim). Highly acclaimed film about artist Vik Muniz who creates from refuse he collects from the world’s largest landfill, Jardim Gramacho in Rio De Janeiro. A portrait of the artist at work and the lives of the trash-pickers who make a living foraging there. This Friends “Art Double Feature’ complements the Flinn Gallery show “Re-Claim/Re-Process”. The Gallery is open until showtime. In English and Portuguese, with English subtitles. Friends Friday Films are open to all at no charge through the support of the Friends of Greenwich Library.
