There’s no longer-lived or better-known program associated with Greenwich Library than the Friends Friday Film Series, now 69 years old. The screening of the day is In The Mood For Love (2000, directed by Wong Kar-wai). Moody tale of unrequited love as seen through the lush eyes of sumptuous film noir color camerawork. A story of infidelity, sort of, set in 1962 Hong Kong where adjacent apartment dwellers struggle with their innermost feelings and let the viewer fill in the blanks. Maybe one of the most breathtakingly gorgeous films you’ll ever see. In Cantonese and Shanghainese with English subtitles.
