Friends Friday Film: Blade Runner-The Director’s Cut

October 14, 2016 @ 7:40 pm - 10:30 pm

Free

There’s no longer-lived or better-known program associated with Greenwich Library than the Friends Friday Film Series, now 69 years old. The screening of the day is Blade Runner-The Director’s Cut (1992, directed by Ridley Scott)Way ahead of it’s time, this film is set in Los Angeles circa 2019 (not too far in our own future). L.A. has become a pan-cultural dystopia of corporate advertising, pollution and flying automobiles as well as human-like androids with short life spans. This version restores changes made at it’s original release. Shown in conjunction with Greenwich Reads Together programs centered on “Station Eleven” by Emily St. John Mandel. Friends Friday Films are open to all at no charge through the support of the Friends of Greenwich Library.
