Friends Family Films: The Missing Picture

May 5, 2017 @ 7:40 pm - 10:30 pm

Free

There’s no longer-lived or better-known program associated with Greenwich Library than the Friends Friday Film Series, now 69 years old. The screening of the day is The Missing Picture (2013, directed by Rithy Panh). Using hand-carved, meticulously painted clay figurines, arranged in elaborate dioramas writer-director Rithy Panh takes a daunting and emotionally draining topic—the atrocities Cambodians suffered under Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge—and presents it in a way that’s personal, imaginative and even strangely beautiful. This Friends “Art Double Feature’ complements the Flinn Gallery show “Contemporary Art From Cambodia”. The Gallery is open until showtime. Friends Friday Films are open to all at no charge through the support of the Friends of Greenwich Library.
