Fred Elser First Sunday Science: Ecological Consequences of Light Pollution–Birds, Bugs, Bats, People and Climate Change

How light pollution adversely affects our living environment, including human health. The presentation will include practical solutions for reducing light pollution that can be implemented by municipalities, businesses and homeowners.

This program is free of charge. No beach pass is required if you are attending the Fred Elser First Sunday Science. First Sunday Science programs take place at the Floren Family Environmental Center at Innis Arden Cottage, Greenwich Point Park, Old Greenwich, CT.

Bio: Leo Smith

Leo Smith is the Chair of the Connecticut Chapter of DarkSky International. He has served as a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society’s (IES) Roadway Lighting Committee and the Model Outdoor Lighting Task Force. He has received the IES President’s Award and the DarkSky Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to reducing light pollution.
