He is an author or editor of more than 30 books and served as ABC News’ lead Vatican and conclave commentator for the election of Pope Francis, Pope Francis’s funeral, and the 2025 conclave that elected Pope Leo XIV. He is a Vatican consultor and voting member of the Synod of Bishops in Rome (2021–2024), personally appointed by Pope Francis. He has appeared on countless tv programs and a podcast interviewing renowned public figures about how they experience God in daily life.
