Date with An Author: Deanna Mulligan, Author of “Hire Purpose: How Smart Companies Can Close the Skills Gap”
November 18, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
AuthorsLive is excited to welcome CEO and author Deanna Mulligan virtually to Greenwich Library to discuss her first book, Hire Purpose: How Smart Companies Can Close the Skills Gap, a wide-ranging examination of what the future of work holds for us all. She will be interviewed by Mary Civiello, Emmy-winning journalist and president of Civiello Communications Group.
Mulligan, CEO of Guardian Insurance, is in the business of taking care of people—whether they are customers of her Fortune 500 insurance company or the employees who help those customers financially manage their most intimate moments of having a child, job loss, illness, or death. This is why, even as Guardian expands its use of AI and data, talent development and a fundamental commitment to keeping people employed is at the core of its corporate strategy.
As she shows in her new book, the jobs of the future require technology skills that the current workforce simply doesn’t have, and this skills gap could leave an estimated 85.2 million jobs unfilled globally by 2030 with serious implications for productivity and competitiveness. But whose responsibility is it to create a system to educate and train—to skill, re-skill, and upskill—the workforce of the future?
Register to receive a link to the pre-recorded interview, which will go live on Wednesday, November 18 at 7:00 pm.
