Bruce Presents: Everyday Hero(ine)s: Hidden Labor in Danish Art

Please join us for an in-depth lecture, discussion and conversation with Pat Berman based on the Danish Art collection of Ambassador John L. Loeb Jr. Patricia Berman is the Theodora L. and Stanley H. Feldberg Professor of Art at Wellesley College, where she also co-directs the Hillary Rodham Clinton Center for Citizenship, Leadership, and Democracy. Widely published in journals and anthologies, she has written books and exhibition catalogues about Danish art of the 19th century, the Belgian painter James Ensor, the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch, figure drawing, Andy Warhol, and the history of photography. Her latest exhibitions are “Edvard Munch: Il Grido Interiore,” currently on view at Palazzo Bonaparte in Rome, Italy, and “The Scandinavian Home: Art and Identity, 1880-1920,” opening at the Frick Pittsburgh in Fall 2025.

The lecture will begin at 6:30 with a small reception starting at 6:00. There will be a Q&A following the lecture.
