Bruce Museum Monday Morning Lecture Series: Sisley in the Met

The Bruce Museum presents a Monday Morning Art Lecture Series on Feb. 6, 13, 27, and March 6 from 10 to 11 a.m. The talks, held in conjunction with the museum’s current exhibition “Alfred Sisley (1839-1899): Impressionist Master,” are free and open to the public. No reservations are required.
Lecture Series Schedule:
Feb. 6  Dr. Susan Strauber, Professor of Art History at Grinnell College, will survey Impressionism.
Feb. 13 Alison Hokanson, Assistant Curator, Metropolitan Museum of Art, will speak about the works by Alfred Sisley in the Met.
Feb. 27 Laura Dickey Corey, PhD candidate at the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU, will speak on  about Mary Cassatt’s continuing ties to the United States in her art, life, and art advising, even while taking up permanent residence in France. On March 6, Heidi Hirschl, Curatorial Assistant, MoMA, will speak about her work on the recent exhibition “Edgar Degas: A Strange New Beauty,” focused on Degas’s engagement in printmaking and Impressionist prints generally.
 
This illuminating series is Free and open to the public.
