“13 Reasons Why”: A Panel Discussion
May 17, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The Netflix series “Thirteen Reasons Why” features a young girl who commits suicide, flashing back to the thirteen different reasons why she decides to take her own life. It has proven controversial, in part because of its edgy and sometime graphic content, and many schools in our area have sent warnings to parents out of concern that it glamorizes suicide.
But the show also raises important questions for communities about the challenges our young people face. “It’s a flawed show in some ways,” says Rev. Maxwell Grant, “yet we should learn from it rather than fear it.”
Please join us for a community conversation about the show and also bullying, cyber-bullying and how it can lead to teen suicide.
We anticipate a lively conversation about this very difficult topic and welcome anyone that would like to attend. This presentation is free and open to the greater Greenwich community and all are encouraged to attend with their teenagers for this informative discussion.
For parking, pull into the left side of church driveway and continue to parking lot area.
