This black bear was just two feet from a mid-country country back door early in the morning on Thursday June 10. He had found the bag of garbage and was feasting on it. Chris Russell snapped this picture of the bear, which has been clearly tagged 211 on each ear.
A black bear (it is unclear if it was the same bear) was also seen crossing Round Hill Road recently, according to the Round Hill Association.
Sightings of bears have been on the rise in part because bear populations have been growing. According to the Department of Energy and Environment Protection (DEEP), the Wildlife Division has also seen an increase in the number of reported problems with black bears.
According to the DEEP bears are attracted to the presence food like what you find near homes and businesses. Black bears are adorable but can be dangerous so be careful. For more information on black bears and how to report a sighting, click here.
