February 18, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

There are many resources and tips to consider when embarking on African American genealogical research, from published genealogies to local histories, original manuscripts, and rare documents to online databases. Join Meaghan E.H. Siekman, Genealogist of the Newbury Street Press at American Ancestors, to learn about how to get started in researching your own African American ancestry.

Meaghan E.H. Siekman, Genealogist at the Newbury Street Press, holds a Ph.D. in history from Arizona State University where her focus was public history and American Indian history. Prior to joining NEHGS, she worked as Curator of the Fairbanks House in Dedham, Mass. and as an archivist at the Heard Museum Library in Phoenix. Meaghan’s areas of interest include American Indian history and lineage; African American research; colonial New England, New York, and German genealogy; immigration to America; westward migration and settlement; and tracing maternal lines.
