Shared Legacies Film

February 13, 2021 @ 6:00 pm

Free

The historical ties between Black and Jewish Americans began long before the Civil Rights era. Pivotal events of this alliance come alive through a treasure trove of archival materials, narrated by Congressman John Lewis, Amb. Andrew Young, and Oscar-winning actor Louis Gossett Jr., members of the King family and many others. With divisive seeds of hate taking root anew in the American landscape, a new generation also affirms their pledge to actively promote the values of social justice. This potent, inspiring story of unity, empathy and partnership validates the ubiquity of the human experience, and how freedom and equality for all can be achieved only when people come together. The film is a tribute to the pursuit of what Dr. King called a “coalition of conscience” and a celebration of partnership, as well as an urgent call to action for today. Film is part of the Davis Film Festival of UJA-JCC and can be streamed any time between Feb 13 at 6 PM and Feb 15 at 8 PM.
