There are primary elections coming up next month and now is the time to make sure you are registered and able to vote.

On August 11, 2020, there will be a Presidential Preference Primary for both the republican and democrat parties. All registered voters who are members of either party are able to participate in person or by absentee ballot due to COVID-19.

August 6th is the last day that all new voters and unaffiliated voters can enroll in a party to be eligible to vote in the parties’ primary. August 10th is the last day that new and unaffiliated voters can enroll in a party in person at the Registrars of Voters Office in Town Hall to be able to vote in the parties’ primary.

If mailing in a ballot, it must be received by August 11, and, if you are planning on voting in person, the poll will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m on August 11.

For the Presidential Preference Primary, the candidates for republicans are:

Roque De La Fuente

For the Presidential Preference Primary, the candidates for the democrats are:

Joseph Biden

Tulsi Gabbard

Bernie Sanders

It looked as if there would also be a 4th Congressional Primary on August 11 in the republican party but one of the candidates, Michael Goldstein, withdrew, so the republican candidate will be Jonathan Riddle (https://www.riddleforcongress.com) who will be running against incumbent Jim Himes (https://www.himesforcongress.com).

The Secretary of the State of Connecticut mailed an absentee ballot application and a prepaid return envelope to all eligible voters. If you haven’t received one, and are a registered voter, you can download the application from the town of Greenwich website and mail it to:

Town Clerk, Town Hall

101 Field Point Road

Greenwich, CT 06830.
