[jwplatform NbilfiyS]You voted and Monday night, the 2015 ‘Best of Greenwich’ were celebrated.
“Six years ago we had already developed ‘Best of the Gold Coast’ which is great and fantastic and we said now, let’s celebrate our little enclave. And that’s how ‘Best of Greenwich’ started,” said Cristin Marandino, Executive Editor at Moffly Media and Editor of Greenwich Magazine.
Hundreds gathered at the Delmar Hotel to enjoy food, wine and cocktails from several of this year’s ‘Best of Greenwich’ winners.
“It is amazing how it has grown and has become this fantastic party that, yes sadly enough wraps up the summer,” said Marandino.
With 86,000 online votes, Marandino said the event is truly about the community celebrating their town.
“This is what the people vote the best. That is hugely meaningful. This is not just a random group of 10 people saying ‘oh I like this or I like that’. This is the readers saying, ‘what do I like the best?’, and that makes it truly special.”
This year, a portion of the proceeds from the event benefited Family Centers.
“It is a wonderful opportunity anytime we can be at a venue that we can introduce Family Centers to people,” said Jennifer Flatow, Director of Community Engagement for Family Centers. “Many times, people may know about us through one of our programs, for example our Early Care and Education Program. Or they may know someone that has gone to our counseling program. For them to come here tonight and get to talk to people from our different programs, to here about the different services that we provide, in addition to the events that we host throughout the year, it is a wonderful opportunity for us to shed some light on the almost 30 different programs that we have servicing Lower Fairfield County.”
“That is very much a big part of what we do. We celebrate the unsung heroes and the people that are doing good in the community and making life better for people. Life is great and honestly what we are about is really trying to help it be great for everybody,” added Marandino.
