Rose M. Chiappetta, 102, of Old Greenwich, the widow of Lawrence F. Chiappetta, Sr., died peacefully at her home on July 23.
Rose was born in New Britain, Conn., on April 29, 1913, the daughter of Stephanie and Franciszek Beke.
A resident of Old Greenwich for over 55 years, Rose moved to the Greenwich area after marrying her husband, Larry. Together they raised their family and went on to celebrate 50 years of marriage.
Rose was a very active member of the St. Catherine of Siena parish, volunteering at the annual carnival and many other fundraising events. She enjoyed reading, flower and vegetable gardening, having lunch or dinner out with friends, going to the casino, playing cards, and most of all having her family over for a homemade Sunday dinner.
Rose is survived by her loving son, Lawrence F. Chiappetta, Jr., and daughter-in-law Mary of Greenwich; three granddaughters, Florence Chiappetta of Stamford, Lauren Hempstead (Matthew) of Stamford, Christie Belfiore (Matthew) of Stamford; one great grandson, Nathaniel Hempstead; and many nieces and nephews.
Rose was predeceased by her son Milo and daughter-in-law Florence; three brothers, Chester, Anthony and Stanley; and two sisters, Mary and Lou.
Rose’s family would like to thank Haven Care for the Elderly; Stephanie, her dedicated caretaker of seven years; and her longtime neighbors and friends, the Galella, Thal and Weigner families, for all their care, love and support.
