Les Beaux Arts Gallery presents “Color Musings,” a new show featuring abstract paintings by artist Bethany Brooke. The show opens Sunday, April 14 and runs through May 22.
The artist captures in painting the excitement of the ever-changing relationships of color, pattern, light and texture. She has a minimalist vocabulary, which tends to work well with color fields. “There is a physicality and psychology to the paintings that project an illusionist sense of place,” she explains. “The paintings provide context for me to question and contemplate my observations which lie beyond myself, humanity and beauty.” Brooke exhibited at the Westport Arts Center and Amy Simon Fine Art. Her work was recently acquired by Citizens Bank and is held within numerous private collections. She holds a BA in Sociology from Barnard College, Columbia University and is a self-taught artist.
Les Beaux Arts Gallery is located at the Round Hill Community Church. The Gallery is open Sunday, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.; Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.; closed Saturday. For more information call 203-869-1091 or visit roundhillcommunitychurch.org
