Joseph M. Scordo Sr. “Peppi,” 86, a Greenwich resident passed away on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018 at Greenwich Hospital. He was born on Dec. 21, 1931 in Greenwich to the late John and Sara (Piro) Scordo.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Joyce (Intrieri) Scordo; beloved children Joe Scordo (Maria) and Cheryl (Joe) Pessy; grandchildren Joe Pessy, Matt Pessy, Samantha Scordo; sisters Mary Jane Rashan of Connecticut, Phyllis Ripley of California; sister-in-law Laviana Scordo. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Michael Scordo, sister Sue Charney, brother and sister-in-law Larry and Marianne Intrieri.
Joseph was a 50-year veteran having served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal during the Korean War. He worked as a construction foreman for many years. He was an avid NY Yankees and sports fan.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1 from 4 to 9 p.m., at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m., at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside Ave. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Greenwich.
