Marion Goane Milazzo (née Wood), age 87, of Greenwich, CT passed away on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018. She was born to the late Frank and Nellie Wood of Rye, N.Y. on Dec. 21, 1930.
Marion graduated Rye High School in 1948 and began a career in various capacities in the medical field, which she pursued throughout her life in New York, Connecticut and Florida. She married Charlie Goane in 1950 with whom she had five children.
Marion enjoyed spending time, making puzzles and knitting gifts for her family. She was an ardent reader and was in fact fondly remembered by her sisters as sneaking off to the library when it was time to do chores.
Marion loved to travel and was always packed and ready to go. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to her friends and neighbors at Agnes Morley and enjoyed volunteering at Family Centers, Julian Curtiss School and Greenwich Senior Center. But her passion was spending time with her family.
Marion leaves behind her children Michael Goane, Nancy Sparan (Bobby), David Goane (Doris), Betsie Goane-Gazzola (Gary) and Chris Goane. In addition, she leaves behind 11 grandchildren; Karyn, Amanda, Kristy, Kelly, Kimberly, Rebecca, Gordon, Daniel, Jeffrey, Sarah, Matthew, and six great-grandchildren; Kaley, Michael, Aiden, Brooke, Paige and Patrick. She is also survived by her brother Walter Wood, sisters Audrey Crawford and Dorothy Briganti, along with Maryann and Kerrin Welsh, her “adoptive” daughter and granddaughter, and former husband Michael Milazzo.
Marion was predeceased by her brothers Frank and Barry Wood, sisters Eleanor Simpson and Lorraine O’Connor.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Graham Funeral Home, 1036 Boston Post Road, Rye, N.Y. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m., at the Church of the Resurrection, Rye, N.Y.
