Her family and many friends mourn the loss of Marie Grace Futia who passed away on April 25 at the age of 93.

Mrs. Futia was born and raised in Buffalo, N.Y. and graduated there from Nardin Academy. In Buffalo she met her husband, Leo. R. Futia, with whom she raised a family of six children. They were married for nearly 70 years until Mr. Futia’s death in 2017.

The family moved to Greenwich in 1967 and were members of St. Michael’s parish for the next 50 years. While Mrs. Futia’s Buffalo roots remained deep she embraced her new friends and acquaintances in Greenwich and was loved for her generous spirit and her kindness towards everyone she met. She was an active member of the Greenwich Women’s Club. In her later years she was fond of visiting Tod’s Point, looking out over Long Island Sound, and strolling on the beach when she could. Mrs. Futia was an avid duplicate bridge player. But her greatest passion was for her six children, 14 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. She constantly encouraged them to pursue their dreams and never missed an opportunity to attend one of their sporting or school events. Mrs. Futia died surrounded by her family after a short illness. She is survived by five of her six children – Carl Futia, Mary Rumiesz, Leo Futia, Elaine Cosantino, and Ann Marie Winsch. She was predeceased by her son Charles Futia.

The funeral is scheduled for Saturday, May 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Michael’s Church in Greenwich.
