The Art Society of Old Greenwich (ASOG) will sponsor a Collage Workshop to be held Saturday, Oct. 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Old Greenwich Civic Center, 90 Harding Rd.
Award-winning artists Carol Nipomnich Dixon, Mary Fike Dowling and Kathryn Shorts will first present samples of their art and then lead attendees in a hands-on workshop. Each attendee will be able to create his or her own collage on a board using provided found papers and fabrics and/or items they have brought from home, such as photographs. During the process, attendees will learn about important art elements including composition, color, value, shapes, and both straight and torn edges. Also collage concepts such as transformation, juxtaposition, and trompe l’oeil will be emphasized.
Dixon, Dowling and Shorts are Greenwich artists whose work has appeared in numerous juried area exhibitions and at Images Gallery in Old Greenwich. The event is free and open to the public.
