
Angelina C. Piro, of Cos Cob, passed away on Thursday, June 8. She was 88 years old.
Angelian was born in Greenwich on Nov. 27, 1928 to Lorenzo and Rosaria Iuele. She married her beloved husband, the late Charles R. Piro, and was a devoted mother to her boys.
Angie enjoyed cooking for her family and all who entered her kitchen. She was a fixture for many years making pizzas at the St. Catherine’s Fair. Angie was also very active in the kitchen at the St. Lawrence Club, where she would prepare the foods for the club’s weekly dinners.
For her devotion to St. Lawrence, Angie was the recipient of the 2004 Columbus Day Award, which she proudly had on display for all to see.
Angie was also an accomplished golfer, winning a nine-hole championship in 2002 and coming close again in 2006.
She really enjoyed her time on the golf course with friends.
Angie is survived by her loving children, Santo (Chris), Larry, Patsy (Diane), and Charles (Kelli); and her eight cherished grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear sisters Rosaria Chiappetta, and Grace Pimpinella (Antonio). She was predeceased by her sister Carmella Orrico.
The family would like to thank Drs. Morris and Nasir, as well as the entire nursing staff of Greenwich Hospital, for their care and compassion.
Family and friends gathered to honor her life on June 11 at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home in Greenwich. A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday, June 12, at St. Catherine of Siena in Riverside.
Entombment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Greenwich.
