Ambassador Tom Niles “My Perspective on Foreign Affairs Today”
May 17, 2017 @ 10:40 am - 1:00 pm
The Trump Administration has been in place for only four months, yet a flurry of unconventional activity has transformed foreign affairs practices and norms in the US, and governments around the world watch closely and ponder what this portends. What does this mean? Where will it take our relations to other countries?
Ambassador Niles will tap his 36 years of experience and insights in the United States Foreign Service and subsequent international relations to assess the current situation and try to peek into the future.
He served as Ambassador to Canada (1985-89), Ambassador to the European Union (1989-91), Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Canada (1991-93), and Ambassador to Greece (1993-97).
Ambassador Niles has since been President and Vice Chairman of the United States Council for International Business, which advances the global interests of American business both at home and abroad, promoting an open system of world trade, finance, and investment and is a member of the American Academy of Diplomacy. He is a resident of Stamford.
