Police closed off a section of Harding Rd., in Old Greenwich on Wednesday after possible human remains were found in the southwest area of Helen Binney Kitchel Natural Park.
According to police, at approximately 9:12 a.m., Greenwich Town Parks employees were cleaning debris from a wooded section of the park when they discovered what appeared to be human remains. Officers responded to the scene and cordoned off the area.
A representative from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner arrived on scene and, after a preliminary investigation, determined that what was found are indeed human remains. The OCME also determined that this was not a recent event.
“Nothing further will be released pending the OCME results,” police said in a press release Wednesday afternoon.
The GPD is currently conducting a death investigation, and they encourage anyone with information to contact the anonymous tip line at 1-800-372-1176, or email tips@greenwichct.org.
